Book: Never Be Boring Again: Make Your Business Presentations Capture Attention, Inspire Action and Produce Results

Author: Doug Stevenson

Doug Stevenson knows that one of the secrets of grabbing your audience is good story-telling and he shares a great deal of his own successful techniques in "Never be boring again". This book resonates with me because I know my own training technique would be pretty bald without the stories that I weave around every subject.

In his book, Stevenson reminded me about how difficult it was to begin; how much stress it took to make sure that a story was just right. I didn't rely on theory when I did my apprenticeship but I studied other, good story-tellers to find a useful strategy.

Stevenson makes it easy. He breaks down the art of story telling and shows you how to make them appropriate for your audience. He deals with stage craft; the way you use expression and body language. He also gives very useful advice about timing and the element of surprise.

Some people may find the examples simplistic, some may find them a tad theatrical but every audience needs a different approach. I know some trainers who are too straight-laced to even want to try these techniques but they have their own strategies to keep an audience's attention.

In "Never Be Boring Again: Make Your Business Presentations Capture Attention, Inspire Action and Produce Results", Doug Stephenson provides additional "strings" to your presentation "bow" and throws down a challenge; are your presentations inspirational, do you want to be remembered?
